With the 501 school district now doing Pay to Play...how will this affect the turnout in wrestling as well as some othersports in the Topeka area? I know some kids have the funds but others will struggle. Thumbs down on pay to play.

I agree Swayz, there used to be a time when athletics were considered a part of the educational process and experience. I don't know how it will effect wrestling there, but I will assure you that if it looses one kid because of their inability to pay then it is a shame. Often people will blame the parents and say they need to get a job or something. While that may be true in some situations, the kid should never be a pawn in that debate. It would be interesting to know how much the fees are for wrestling and where the fees for all sports go to.

Here in Lawrence it has been pay to play for a while now. It's $50.00 per sport. It does affect somr families as I have seen it happen.

Emporia started a $25 pay to play fee per sport and there really wasn't a drop in the number of wrestlers that I noticed.

I broke my toe at state... but I still got a better medal than Lancerm.
