Kit,

I wish the dates for your camp were diferent:
Team Champions Wrestling Camp, Baker University, Baldwin City KS, June 27-June 30

I have a serious wrestler who would have loved to attend. But, we will be at Kids Nationals before the week's end.

I suspect a lot of other good schoolboy aged kids are in the same boat. Maybe next year.

I am the Head Wrestling Coach at Luther College in Decorah, IA and we have Matt Pyle from Sabetha, KS on our team.  He is a 2-time NCAA Division III All-American and won a National Title for us this past season.  We love him and I have been very impressed with Kansas Wrestling as I have followed it more closely now.  Would you provide a link to Luther College and include our camps and clinics on your webpage for those that follow Matt?  The college wrestling webpage http://sports.luther.edu/wrestling/index.html

Our wrestling camps webpage is thttp://sports.luther.edu/camps/wrestlingcamp.html. We offer 2 Team Camps and an Intensive Training and Technique Camp.  Last year we had over 600 wrestlers attend our camps and Sabetha attended our Team Camp 2 years ago.

Scott Fausset,

I apologize for our camp conflicting again with Kids Nationals, the same thing happened last year. I did try to avoid that this year. However, of the possible weeks I was able to secure at Baker, the June 27 week was the best option.

On an optimistic note, the more years I have a camp at Baker, the more "up the ladder" I move in terms of selection priority. So, in other words, each year I have a better chance of getting the week I want.

I will keep trying. If our camp keeps growing, we may look at offering two or three seperate weeks. The camp went great last summer and we received a lot of positive feedback and had a high number of campers. And this year the registration is already going very well. We are excited to once again bring an Olympic champion to campus.

Thanks for your interest in the camp.

Regards,
Kit Harris

Randy Simpson, one of the premier wrestling trainers in the country, has his summer camps coming up soon.

A little about Coach Simpson:
* Collegiate Wrestling Coach for 15 years
* Senior National Open Champion (MVP)
* NCAA All-American (3rd)
* Olympic Trials: 2nd in Iowa Regional (1992); 4th in East Stroudsburg Regional (1988)
* Freestyle and Club Coach (Club Simpson, Attack Club)
* Personal Trained 3 of Central Ohio’s 4 state champions in 2005 (two of them extensively)
* His athletes have earned All-American Status in all 4 college divisions (D1, D2, D3 and NAIA). One of his athletes was National Champ a few year ago.

Last year’s Intensive Camp garnered 3 state finalists and one state champ (none were state champs coming in), as well as taking athletes with losing records and helping them become State Qualifiers in one year!

In addition, Randy is author of Winner’s Circle, a nationally known and respected wrestling technique column, and is a highly respected writer in the wrestling community. I encourage you to take any opportunity to work with this wrestling master.

His Technique Camp (June 26-30) is for athletes going into grades 6-12 and is an excellent camp to attend! Randy teaches his Attack System to the campers. This system is Based on solid wrestling foundation, is very easy to pick up and the method used for teaching is excellent. “What they learn, they retain.” Mental and Physical Toughness, and slick, high level technique. This is a great learning opportunity.

The Intensive Camp (July 10-15) is a high level camp for athletes on or near a State Championship level. Open to high school and also high level junior high athletes.

Randy also works camps for some high schools and has youth camps, but only accepts limited numbers to these events.

For information, go to the website: http://www.randyswrestlingsite.com, or email him personally: randyjs@wowway.com. There are camp forms on the website.

Wamego High School will be having a Granby Camp from June 13th-15th. Marty McCurdy will be the Head Clinician. Coach McCurdy is the Head Coach at Lincoln East High School in Lincoln, NE. He has coached the Class A State Champion Teams in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He has coached 19 individual state champions and 81 state medalists.

He will have with him some of his former wrestlers who are now wrestling in college as clinicians.

This will be a tremendous commuter camp and a great opportunity to learn from one of the best coaches in the midwest.
