Ok folks I was chatting with a parent from a club up North at our last tourny and we were interested in knowing who thinks their club has the toughest and/or the best practices and why?

Who has the biggest club in the state and who takes the most kids to state each year?

Come on go ahead and brag on your club!

Clay Center always seems to fair very well as does many area Wichita clubs.

When we moved here we tried out several clubs and still on occasion work out with different clubs. Obviously, what is the best club is open for debate and that depends on the wrestler. We chose Derby though and am glad we did, I think the ongoing success and improvement is worthy of note.

150+ wrestlers counting novice and advanced, right now around 75 - 80 in the Open Room. There are plenty of workout partners and Jeff Herrington runs a tough room. It is actually the reason we chose the club, we had extremely tough work outs when we lived in Oklahoma and when we came up here, Nathan was sweating and working hard after 1 work out, the one with Derby. I could comment here about the benefit of hard workouts but I will assure you that the rooms with tough workouts are the ones producing champions. We have never attended a Brawler or Maize practice, would love to by the way, but their numbers tell me they have to have great rooms and practices for those that take the sport seriously.

Last year, Derby took 27 to state, I know because I lost my hair on that one. The development of the novice program is also growing the youth club and recent success in the Jr. High and improvements in the High School program are indications of that.

On a side bar, we work out on occasion with WWC and TOHK and see benefits in both clubs and consider them our closest friends. TOHK is really like a home away from home for Nathan and I will say this, when you go to their room, you had better be ready to get into some wars. In addition, I have never seen kids wanting to stay around after practice and do pull-ups, push-ups, and the like, as I have seen in their room. They are something else and the coaching staff at TOHK and Derby are among the best in the state (In a good way), at least in my opinion.
