Anybody got the results? Is it still done as a round robin tournament or has it expanded since my days in high school?

From what I have heard is that some team in Oklahoma took 1st, but they weren't allowed to take the medals home b/cuz of some rule they have there, so the medals went to Chapman who had the next best score! Just a rumor, but that's what I have heard!

Ok...someones got to explain to me why Newkirk couldn't take home the team title...do they have point systems like us and competed too much?

Oklahoma only allows teams to compete in six tournaments. So, in order for Newkirk to be able to participate, they had to agree to not accept any awards. They came to Concordia strictly for the competition. Even if they couldn't say they took first they still went 5-0 in dual competition. Finally, even if Chapman didn't take first and so on down the line, I wasn't going to waste medals and a plaque. I hope this explanation is sufficient.

Coach Moore,

You ROCK! Was the tournament done like a round robin like I remember, or actually set up as team vs. team dual format?

I guess I'm really confused after reading the Salina Journal. Newkirk 5-0, Chapman 4-1, Concordia 3-2, Beloit 2-3, Anderson County 3-2, Eudora 2-3, Hiawatha 1-4, Nickerson 0-5

How does a 2-3 Beloit team finish above an Anderson County team with 3-2 record? I know the max 5 rule for competition on a day, so that explains why everyteam didn't get to face each other...what were all the results?

Aaron Sweazy, I should let coach Moore answer your question but I think I will give it a stab. The 4 teams with the best records of the first round went into the winners pool. Beloit beat Anderson Co and Hiawatha ,lost to Concordia. That put Beloit(2-1) in the winners pool with Chapman(2-1), Concordia(3-0), Newkirk,OK(3-0)....I would say that if you were not in the winners pool from first round that it was going to be impossible to place no matter how well you did in fourth and fifth rounds. Hope that this answers your question. Tim

In regards to how the tournament was formatted, the aforementioned explanation was correct. There were two pools of four teams with a round-robin format. The top two teams from each pool then wrestled one another for 1st through 4th places, the bottom two teams from each pool wrestled each other for 5th through 8th place. So, even though Garnett ended up 3-2 and Beloit ended up 2-3, Beloit defeated Garnett in the pool and thus placed higher.

Thanks coach,

I was laughing and scratching my head trying to figure that one out...I want to give a good write up for the weekly paper and didn't have the chance to adventure up to Concordia due to the weather and an unreliable vehicle, good thing for snow days that some people are home and able to answer questions...LOL.

Tim aka triggersdad,

Thanks for the help too...

It would have been fun to see old NCKL foe Beloit up there at Concordia duking it out with the other teams...what were the scores of all of the Beloit matchups...also what was the final score of the Concordia - Newkirk matchup?

The Swayz, I do not have the score of Newkirk vs. Concordia I left before it was over. I do have the others you ask for. 1st round Beloit 40 Garnet 27. 2nd round Beloit 24 Concordia 58. 3rd round Beloit 39 Hiawatha 24. 4th round Beloit 21 Chapman 42. 5th round Beloit 18 Newkirk 57. The team from Oklahoma was the real deal. Would be so nice to have the budget they have to travel. Talk to ya soon, Tim
