Dallas, I know the program works it is just that the gains soon stop, there is no shock to the muscles to promote new strength gains. This year our lifting program for wrestling was a lot different. Hang Cleans with a front squat, Hang Snatch with a over head front squat, different tricep exercises, meb ball throws and weight v-ups, along with some dumbell work. It's a good program that Ufford put up, though he desined the sets and weight to just maintain our strength. Over the summer he is trying to get the team to work with Coach Cross at MidNazerene College in their weightlifting program.

Actually weighing at or above the weight you wrestle is soooo overrated. Be small like me. You're intimidating because you're mysterious. They think with a super stellar record like mine then you must have some secret that allows you to be so amazing.

last year my maxs were
Squat: 280
Bench: 170
Incline Bench: 135
Power Clean: 180
Power Push: 160
Hang Snatch: 115

Though as of now I lost a lot of strength and muscle from cutting this year. My maxs now are about 15-20lbs less

what about your senior year. You were very tall and were very thin, your waist looked like 2 inches thick. How was your strength affected then.

ONEagle,

I definately recommend that you get hooked up with either Coach Cross at MidAmerica or Istavan Jvorek at JCCC. I trained under Coach Cross (coincidently with Coach Ufford) and I experienced results immediately. I am still utilizing his workouts five years after graduating. My husband trained under Coach Jvorek at JCCC and still uses his program. Both coaches have similar philosophies and will work you hard. I see too many high schoolers who have never been properly trained on weights and it is obvious they are not getting anything out of their workout. I have noticed that most wrestlers are usually a little better trained on free weights. Good luck this summer and next season.

Indeed sir i was a tall 19lber and disgustingly thin. My strength by the end of the yr(league, regionals and state) was really affected. I was quite a bit weaker than i was at the start of the yr. When December rolled around i had some muscles and by Feb. i was just a skeleton with blond hair(which looked pretty sharp if u ask me) If i was you, id cut hard senior yr because.....its ur senior yr. Thats what i did and i got a state medal out of it. But some seniors like to take it real easy and go up a few weight classes and have more fun though.

I'm not going up to make it easier on myself, I want to make things more challenging . The spring and summer will be fun to get stronger and a lot of work. Besides it's the weight class I missed when wrestling.
Fres- 130
Soph- 119
Jr- 112

I need to go back and get 125 to fill the gap

While I agree with some of what you said, the quote above is false. Your body can turn carbs, fat, or proteins into muscle. In fact it needs all 3 to function properly. Milk also does not stop muscle from being broken down!

Please research any diet before beginning. The best ones are still everything in moderation with alot of fruits and vegetables. Carbs are not the enemy, but simple sugars should be avoided.

josh- i plan on being up at midamerica in coach cross's program. i've talked to some people who have done it, and the olympic style of lifting seems to be pretty good.(i would have to agree after coach ufford's program he had us in, hopefully i'll just get more of that with cross)

Since you attempting discredit my previous post it is required that you provide proof that I am wrong.

Protein is the source of energy that the body requires for building muscle, carbs and fat are either used as energy or stored as fat. Haven't you heard of the Atkins diet? Protein can be used as energy as well as the only thing that builds muscle.
Carbs are the fast source of energy, fat is the slower source of energy. Since muscle is protein if you want bigger muscles doesn't it make since to eat alot of protein.

I'm sure you know that a post excercise drink is highly recomended for building muscle. The question is why after working out and not before.
And how much carbs, fat and protein should the post excercise drink contain?
Every musclebuilding drink manufacturer will tell you that post exercise drink will stop catabolic activity why wouldn't milk? One cup of milk contains 8 grams of protein, 5grams of fat,11 grams of sugars. Drink two cups within 5 minutes after workout, I would like to research or any web site you can provide that would suggest this is wrong.
