Pick the best possible lineup for each, I bet this would be a great matchup almost on a yearly basis:

Teams in the NWKL are: Colby-Goodland-Oakley-Atwood-Oberlin-St. Francis-Hoxie and Quinter

Teams in the NCKL are: Abilene-Clay Center-Chapman-Concordia-Marysville-Wamego

Purely speculation on where people go for this years team which is actually quite weak as compared to years past(if a guy was ranked higher I just chose them):

103 Atwood Wam
112 Rein Abilen
119 Dooley Con
125 Hoesli Con
130 Dawson AB
135 Wuthnow AB
140 Jon Arveson Chap
145 Dylon Jenne Ab
152 Kyle Allen CC
160 Brendan Lund CC
171 Will Irvine Chap
189 Chris Sutton-Kearn Con
215 (bumping up) Josh Marrs #2 at 189
HWT Blackwood CC

2005 I really would have liked the NCKL's Chances.

2005 I really would have liked the NCKL's Chances.
My Predictions:

103- Brewer wins (NWKL)
112- Rein wins (NCKL)
119- Bahe wins (NWKL)
125- Olsen wins (NWKL) Could go either way
130- Dawson wins (NCKL) Could go either way
135- Loyd wins (NWKL)
140- Garcia wins (NWKL)
145- Finley wins (NWKL)
152- Schamberger wins (NWKL) Could go either way
160- Lund wins (NCKL) Could go either way
171- Irvine wins (NCKL)
189- Sutton-Kearn wins (NCKL)
215- Marrs wins (NCKL)
275- Wilger wins (NWKL)

Would be a pretty good dual. 8-6 in favor of NWKL.

I would guess that the NCKL would only win the 112, 171 and 189 pound matches and that would be it.

can we get a possible NWKL roster so we can know who the NCKL guys would be facing? it's a bit hard to predict this imaginary dual if we don't really know who's facing who.

I would think the NWKL could bump their second best 160 pounder (Cook or Smull) and win the 171 match as well. Could alos bump up second best 125 pounder (Richard-SF) and get the fall at 125.

The NWKL Roster:

103- Brewer- Colby
112- Luedke- Colby
119- Bahe- Goodland
125- Olsen- Colby
130- Baker- Hoxie
135- Loyd- Saint Francis
140- Garcia- Colby
145- Finley- Colby
152- Schamberger- Hoxie
160- Miller- Oberlin
171- McGinty- Hoxie
189- Reitcheck- Oakley
215- Erwin- Hoxie
275- Wilger- Saint Francis

If you took the best (in terms of how the did at state) teams using the conferences and who was in it for 2005 you'd have a really fantastic dual as well seeing as how the rosters I came up with would have both leagues having 5 out of the first 7 weights having a state finalist. It would really be a barn burner in the lower weights where NWKL would have to try to score some bonus.

In the upper 7 the NCKL boasted of 4 finalists on this roster while the NWKL only had 1. Anyway, it's all fun for now, but these two leagues really ought to think about having an All Star Dual at the end of the year just between the 2 leagues. Here you go with the 2005 lineups:

NWKL

103 Normandin GL 3rd 4a
112 Bahe GL Champion 4a
119 Migchelbrink AW Runner-up 3A
125 T. Baker Hox Champion 3a
130 Smull SF State Qualifier 3a
135 L. Younkin Oak Champion 3a
140 C. Garcia CB Champion 4a
145 Kuhlman Oak Champ 3a
152 Miller Ob 6th 3a
160 Cook GL 5th 4a
171 Ross Sf 3rd 3a
189 Cowan GL 6th 4a
215 Starr GL 3rd 4a
275 Walz Sf 5th 3a
----------------------------------------

NCKL

103 Rein Ab Runner-up 4a
112 Dooley CN Runner-up 4a
119 Sprague CN Qualifier 4a
125 Dawson Ab Champ 4a
130 Scheideman WM 4th 4a
135 Peterson AB Runner-up 4a
140 Lund CC Runner-up 4a
145 Grater CC Champ 4a
152 Allen CC 3rd 4a
160 Taplin Ab Champ 4a
171 Boyer CC 3rd 4a
189 Jo. Marrs CC Runner-up 4a
215 Ja. Marrs CC Runner-up 4a
275 Thorenson Ab 4th 4a

When it's a real ref? I thought you were always taught to don't let the ref decide the match for you.

you see Swayz, everybody thought that the last one was a "real ref", but then he disappeared in thin air right after the match was over.

it was craaaaaaaaazy.

idk, but it might be a great investment Nigel. you can have him take your place for a bit, leaving you open to go watch some of the other matches. then you pick up that hefty hefty paycheck after the tourney and nobody would ever be the wiser.

Sweazy is right. But I was ahead by three points with 20 seconds left in the third.I was on top and the ref calls me for throwing elbows.then he said i lifted the arm when it was behind his back twice. Fazel didn't even score a point.nigel maybe if u were there u would understand.

Not trying to be smart (censored word) here, but if he already called you arm being too high once with only 20 seconds left, couldn't you have found something else to do instead of taking that chance again?

My responses were made as jokes to your fake comment. With 20 secconds left in the match I'd have to agree with Alex, you should not have been trying moves which are potential dangerous to start out with, knowing that they can quickly move to illegal. As all of the coaches in Abilene have always told us "Don't give the official a chance to decide your match"

YEP! I remember even hearing that on several occasions. I think a lot of it has stemmed off of some calls that have been made against Abilene in the state tournament in years past.
