Probably moved because 4a is more centrally located at Salina for one and for another thing, we don't like $5 cold bologna sandwiches.

I wouldn't say Elliot was in control the whole match by any means. They had some good scrambles, and Judd went out there on fire. Elliot looked winded after the first period. Schroeder should have had a takedown in the first period, but the refs didn't call it. It was a horrible call. It was a very tight match. Schroeder did an awesome job on bottom. Elliot (the master at riding) wasn't able to hold Judd down. Great match, could have gone either way, hopefully we will see them in the FINALS against eachother next year!

The match between Elliot and Allen was a much better and closer match. Allen got a takedown as time went out, but of course the refs did not award him the takedown. I think that match should of been Elliot's first loss of his high school career.

So what you saying is two refs blew the call in the semis vs Allen.

The match was very close. With 14 seconds remaining, Elliott shot a single leg and secured the leg. He hung on until he was called for a stalemate. Amazingly, there was still 9 seconds left in the match. Either a very quick shot, an even quicker stalemate or a sever malfunction of the clock which neither official caught. I will let those in attendance decide for themselves.

All three of these young men are very good wrestlers and it would be nice to see the State use a seeding criteria to separate brackets like theirs in the future. Two of them were returning State finalist and Allen a returning State placer. Yet all were on the same half of the bracket.

Sounds like one of the wrestlers blew it at regionals. Otherwise there is no way all three wrestlers could have been on the same side of the bracket.

I watched this match, Elliot was in the process of going down, but did not hit the mat before time ran out. But even if it was a takedown, Elliot doesn't lose, the match goes into overtime.

Watching this match I can tell you the period should have expired before the clock problem was caught. I know this because the crowd had been yelling at the refs/clock operators for at least 10 seconds. Before next year they have to have towel tappers and better clock operators.

I don't mind the towel tappers, but do they always have to be 8 year old kids?

Enough is enough you can say all you want about that Elliott kids wrestling. But you’ve gone too far when you go knocking the towel tapers. I was in charge of those boys for at least the last 10 years at the state tournament when it was at Wichita. All of those boys were members of the Augusta middle school wrestling team making them 7th or 8th graders. Those boys, including Scott, did a great job with very few complaints. I can still remember before winning his 1st state title Shawn Silvis was giving the boys tips and showing some of his famous taping moves from when he was a towel taper. Scott was an excellent high school towel taper too, although to be honest his technique wasn’t quite up to the level of Shawn’s.

I agree we need to have a return of the towel tappers. At least that allows the assistant ref to watch the match not the clock. Another improvement is to turn the horns back on. If the ref knows time is about to expire and then hears the horn if may eliminate some of the problems. By the time an official sees the clock at zero and signals to the head official, how much time has passed.

I agree with Mike, that we had very few complaints about towel tappers over the years in Wichita. They understood their job, enjoyed it and helped the officials keep their eyes on the match.
