Cash is up!

Cash working the over-collar but suddenly the Hawaiian is behind him and tosses him for 5.

Period 2 ... the Hawaiian with 3+1, Cash has tweaked his back ... gives up a TD and a 2-point gut.

Cadet 170 Finals (Bout 1832 M 10) - Jared Langley (Kansas) vs. Daniel Vitale (Minnesota)

Jared finishes 6th after his last bout in the Cadet FS National tourney! It was a close 3 period bout that Jared had his chances in.

Jared is a great young man who works hard ... that hard work is rewarded by an All-American status!!

With one wrestler left (Colt Castlebury, Junior 195), here are our cumulative results:

Cadet Greco - 36 wins, 36 losses, 3 All-Americans
Junior Greco - 54 wins, 39 losses, 5 All-Americans
Cadet Freestyle - 47 wins, 48 losses, 3 All-Americans
Junior Freestyle (currently) - 30 wins, 51 losses

Overall, we had 167 wins, 153 losses and at least 11 All-Americans.

Congratulations to all the 59 athletes, including five female wrestlers, who took the challenge of coming to Fargo to face off against the best in the nation. You all represented yourselves and your state well.

Colt is right where he belongs, on the stage of NDSU!

Colt trails early by 1 ... gives a 1-point gut then a 2+2.

Colt is victim to a 3 then a 1-point gut ... a beautiful inside trip gains 3 for Brooks.

Young Charby has been making the journey for 14 straight years! Yes, Brandon has been making this trip to North Dakota for longer than he has been in school!

One of my fondest memories surround a young Charby years ago! In the pre-historic days, the Jubster and I, would often find ourselves up till 2 or 3 am, getting reports and pictures back to the home folks! In the wee hours, 8 or 10 years ago ... Coach Charbonneau and his young son Brandon announced themselves at our door.

"Sure you come in, have a seat" we both responded to an inquiry if we wanted company! Sitting on the only furniture available, the edges of beds, Juby and I were entertained, mostly by the younger Charbonneau for what must have been 90 minutes! The conversation was not of a common discussion for a pre-teen but our discourse was of all things wrestling!!

Someone noticed the time and we all agreed that we had better get a bit of sleep in preparation of a full slate of activities in just a few hours. But before we nodded off, Jubes and I visited about how much we were impressed with the little guys knowledge of wrestling. Also, we commented that Daddy Charbonneau most be so very proud of that little guy!

Even though this year's outcome was probably not quite what either of them wanted ... my guess, is Daddy is still proud of that little guy!!

Ok, here's one for you.

I can clearly remember back in 2000 at Fargo when I was on staff having some fantastic PoK'eMoN sessions with one of the coaches then 6 year old son.
Can you guess who that young future sensation was?
You guessed right if you said young Charby.
Of course I was an accomplished PoK'eMoner myself having a son the same age as Brandon, that being Lincoln.

Yes young Charby has giving Team Kansas and the State of Kansas a lot of great memories on and off the mat and a lot to be proud of.

Best wishes to Brandon as he moves on to the next level of his career and the next phase of his life.

I remember Dennis bringing Brandon to the camp in Baldwin right after he was born. It was 18 years ago when I was on staff. That is when the youngsters were the Lamars and the Gables. So many good kids grew up going to that camp and tournament every year. My buddy John Blosser went for several years as he grew up when his dad was a coach and director.

Nope. Miklus beat him.

What a great story for Colt this year. I had seen him a few times in high school but got a much closer look in Denver as well as OKC. He won the Rocky Mountain Nationals and then went 9-2 in OKC. I got a kick out of him telling me before the tournament that he had no idea how to wrestle Greco and felt that he should go FS only. He then went 6-2 for us in GR, pinning three guys! He then went 3-0 in FS. His Fargo AA was a perfect ending to an awesome high school career!

North Dakota State got a good one in Colt Castlebury!
