EDMOND, Okla. – The Newman Wrestling team traveled down south to Central Oklahoma University, who hosted the NCAA Super Regional IV Sunday. The Jets would finish in sixth place out of the ten teams in attendance. Kameron Frame would be the only Jet to advance on to the NCAA Division II National Tournament by earning one of the twenty finalists spots with a second place finish at 165 lbs. Kendall Frame and Ivan Balavage would be Newman's two other placers, both wrestlers would finish in fourth place.

JJ Gilbert, 125 lbs., would drop his first match via tech fall 16-1 to Fort Hays State's Turner. He would receive a bye in his first round of the consolation bracket before defeating Central Missouri's Wishne by fall to move to the third round of the consolations. In the consolation third round, Gilbert would fall to Maryville's Pisciotta by a 9-4 decision.

Jake Patch, 133 lbs., would receive a first round bye before losing a 9-3 decision to Maryville's Kreith. In the consolations second round, Patch would defeat Kentucky Wesleyan's Parker with a 12-2 major decision. Patch would then advance to the consolation semis by winning a 6-3 decision over Fort Hays State's Green. In the consolation semifinals, Patch would lose by fall to Central Oklahoma's Cole.

Tyler Lawley, 141 lbs., would start out with a first round bye. In his first match of the day, Lawley would lose by fall to Central Oklahoma's Keim to fall into the consolation bracket. Lawley would receive a bye in the second round of consolation. In the third round of consolations, Lawley would defeat Kentucky Wesleyan's Craig with a 4-2 decision to move to the consolation semis. In the consolation semifinals, Lawley would lose a 16-0 tech fall to Drury's Kuster.

Baylor Smith, 149 lbs., would finish on the right side of an 8-2 decision to start his day off with a win over Fort Hays State's Zebley. Smith would win his second match with a 5-4 decision of Drury's Christian to move into the semifinals. In the semifinals, Smith would lose a 14-0 major decision to Lindenwood's Londoff to fall into the consolation semis. In the consolation semifinals, Smith would lose a 3-2 decision to McKendree's Callaway.

Kendall Frame, 157 lbs., would receive a first round bye. In his quarterfinal matchup, Frame would defeat Smalling of McKendree with a 16-2 major decision. Frame would then drop his semifinal matchup with Scantlin of Fort Hays State by fall to move to the consolation semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Frame would win an 8-4 decision over Ouachita Baptist's Carter to advance to the third place match. In the third place match, Frame would lose an 11-4 decision to Lindenwood's Gentile to finish in 4th place.

Kameron Frame, 165 lbs., would receive a first round bye before defeating Ouachita Baptist's Howerton via first period fall. Frame would then drop his semifinal match 4-3 to McKendree's Peterson to drop to the consolation semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Frame would win with another first period fall, this time against Fort Hays State's Hicks to move to the third place match. In his third place match, Frame would win a 14-3 major decision over Central Oklahoma's Garrett to advance to the second place match and a chance at advancing to the NCAA National Tournament. In his final match, Frame would win a 3-1 decision over Lindenwood's Trepanier to earn his third straight NCAA National Tournament appearance.

JD Johnson, 174 lbs., would receive a first round bye before finding himself on the losing end of a 6-1 match against Central Oklahoma's Jordan. In the second round of consolations, Johnson would win a 6-4 decision over Ouachita Baptist's Salazar to move on. In the third round of the consolations, Johnson would lose a 5-3 decision to Central Missouri's Morgan.

Nate Panagakis, 184 lbs., would receive a first round bye before losing a 6-1 decision to Lindenwood's Dickhaus to fall into the consolation bracket. Panagakis would receive a bye in the second round of consolations and would defeat Ouachita Baptist's Marple with a 17-0 tech fall in the third round of consolations. In the consolation semifinals, Panagakis would lose another 6-1 decision, this time to Maryville's Kelly.

Ivan Balavage, 197 lbs., would begin his day with a bye before facing off with Maryville's Stegall where he would find himself on the right side of a 3-1 decision. In his semfinal match, Blavage would lose a 16-0 tech fall to McKendree's Vasbinder to drop to the consolation semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Balavage would win a 4-1 decision over Drury's Estes to move into the third place bout. In his third place match, Balavage would lose by third period fall to Fort Hays State's Henry to finish in 4th place.

Jacob Stoneberger, 285 lbs., would lose a 6-2 decision to McKendree's Kuehl to fall into the consolation bracket where he would receive a first round bye. In the second round of consolations, Stoneberger would win a 5-3 decision over Ouachita Baptist's Green. In Stoneberger's third round of consolations, he would win an 8-2 decision over Central Missouri's Hankins to move on to the consolation semifinals. In the consolation semifinals, Stoneberger and Kuehl would face off again. Kuehl would get the best of Stoneberger once more, this time with a 6-3 decision.

Kameron Frame will head to St. Louis, Mo. for the NCAA Division II National Tournament that will take place on March 12th and 13th and attempt to become a three time All-American.
