OHIO TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS NAMED TO WRESTLING'S ULTIMATE TRIPLE CROWN

We are proud to announce that, along with USA Wrestling's Folkstyle Nationals & WOW's Reno Worlds, we have received the designation of being named one of the three Major Amateur Youth Folkstyle Wrestling Events in the USA and are the East Coast's representative tournament in the Ultimate Triple Crown.
To be eligible, events must have met the following criteria:
*Events had to encompass the age groups 8 and under thru High School.
*Events had to have a proven track record, of at least 10 years of quality consistency, in order to be considered.
*Events had to draw an average of 2000+ wrestlers, and represent at least 25 states, on a consistent basis.
*Events had to occur in the same calendar year.
*Events had to be Scholastic style (no freestyle or Greco-Roman events would be considered).
*Any Wrestling Organization would be limited to having one, at most, of their events receiving Major Status, and thus be a part of the Ultimate Triple Crown.
*Only one event, in each section of the country (West, Central and East) would receive this designation. By doing so, this would allow for the most individuals to be able to attend at least one of the three MAJOR events each year.

CENTRAL REGION: USAW FOLKSTYLE NATIONALS
https://usawrestlingevents.com/national_regional
2021 Event to be held: April 1-3, 2021 – Cedar Falls, IA
There was unanimous decision that any true “Triple Crown” would have to include the event run by the sport’s National Governing Body.
The USAW Folkstyle Nationals have truly grown into a premier event and is generally the first of our three events to take place each Spring.
If we are to support our Olympic movement, this is one event we all need to support, even if your child does not compete in any of the international styles of wrestling.
The facility is tremendous and nothing says wrestling more than Iowa and having an event there, especially one run by USA Wrestling, makes it a no-brainer to have as the first Major of our Triple Crown.

WESTERN REGION: RENO WORLDS
https://www.worldofwrestling-roller.com/.../reno-worlds.html
2021 Event to be held: April 15-18 – Tulsa, OK
No Triple Crown could be complete without one event from World of Wrestling, which also brings you the top in-season youth event in the USA, (Tulsa Nationals). Reno Worlds is also the culmination of their own own Triple Crown series.
Generally held in Reno, NV, the current COVID situation has forced this event to move to Tulsa, where it is being held a bit later than it normally would take place.
This event features a ton of the Western USA’s elite wrestlers, as well as a good number of stud Eastern kids, who are in search of a “Trinity Award” or a spot on World of Wrestling’s World All-Star Team.
For those not familiar with the Trinity Award, it is given to wrestlers that place first in WOW’s Kickoff Classic, Tulsa National and Reno Worlds, all within the same wrestling season. The World All-Star Team is then figured, on a point basis, of which wrestler, in each age/weight category, has done the best in those three events.
Both of these are truly major honors and well deserved by those that win them, as all three events are certainly worthy of having outstanding competition.
In addition, the Opening Ceremonies and Parade of Champions are second to none and are truly a site to behold. They definitely pull out all stops when it comes to these.
When you think Youth Wrestling, you think World of Wrestling and they definitely deserve the honor of having one of their events being called a Major and part of wrestling’s ultimate Triple Crown.

EASTERN REGION: OHIO TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
https://ohiotofc.com/
2021 Event to be held: April 24 – Triadelphia, WV
The Ohio Tournament of Champions was the clear choice in this Region. However, due to health restrictions currently in place in Ohio, this event has had to move to West Virginia this year.
What makes this event unique is the rules they use and the fact that they finish the event in one day. Many call this event a Takedown Tournament, but it is much more than that. Think of more like a Folkstyle Event, with a Freestyle twist.
All matches are one 3 minute period in length. Lack of mat activity, similar to freestyle, or going out of bounds, results in a neutral start, but it is folkstyle scoring. These rules keep the event moving, make it tough to stall your way to a victory and ensure you had better be good on your feet, if you expect to win.
The event is run in multiple sessions, on mat clusters, and any given weight class is generally completed in three hours, or less.
The other positives about this event is that while the entry fee is a bit higher, at $70, they only charge additional siblings $50 and do not charge any spectator admission or any fee for coaches passes.
Just take a look at the past results on their page, especially the link to Multi Champions, and you will see the overall quality of competition that this event brings and why the Ohio TofC is worthy of being the final Major of “America’s Triple Crown of Folkstyle Youth Wrestling.”
