We had another historic event with our state tournament this weekend, with our first full girls greco state tournament.

We have started the process to build our National Teams. Below is the information for making and confirming for the 14U and Junior National Duals, as well as the 16U and Junior Fargo trip.

The 14U and Junior Duals will be our first level of communication. If you won either freestyle or greco state, you secured your spot for our freestyle and greco National Dual Team (as Junior and 16U are combined, if we are doubled up, we could have wrestle-offs or split matches). However, if you did not take first do not let that detour you from reaching out to us to still potentially be part of the team, as we have a lot of spots to fill in both freestyle and greco, as some that won, might not take the opportunity.

This trip will consist of leaving on June 13, in the morning from Kansas City, and potentially having another pick up along the way to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We will weigh in at 4pm on June 13. Wrestling will start on June 14 and will run through Saturday, June 17, and we will head back after the finals. We will be staying at the Candlewood Suites across the street from the Cox Center in downtown Tulsa.

This trip will include a gear package, travel and hotels. The girls will be responsible for their own meals, however we will have sandwich items, fruit, water etc, as for the most part as they will be at the venue wrestling most of the time. The hotel also offers breakfast in the morning. The cost for the trip is $350.

We have 2 very seasoned veterans that will be our team leaders to help build these teams, and they will be your first point of contact if you have an interest or questions.

Ed Edison has been a staple in Kansas wrestling for the development of women's wrestling for over a couple of decades. He will be the team leader for our Junior Freestyle and Greco team. Coach Edison's contact info is ph: 316-259-5399 email: edshtgclg@gmail.com

Andy Albright a multiple time state championship coach for Chanute, and has a few Coach of the Year honors as well, will be building out our 14U Freestyle and Greco team. Coach Albrights contact information is ph: 620-423-0894 and email: aalbright@frontenac249.org.

With tabulating the results from this weekend, any girl that placed in the top 4 in freestyle, is automatically qualified for Fargo this summer. This is an extremely well ran event that takes place over the weekend of 7/15 and 7/16. This is the single largest wrestling event for girls in the nation, and a great opportunity to get better, gain experience, and get lots of looks by college coaches (including those on our staff).

Understand, that if you want to go, we can likely find a spot for you, so please reach out, as we have never hit our max number for this tournament, so almost anyone has the potential of making the team. Wrestling and placing in the top 6 at Southern Plains will also auto qualify you as well.

This is a Kansas National Team event, and will include a training camp at Ottawa University July 7, 8, 9. We will cover meals, training, and rooms for this training camp. Then the girls will go home, to rest in their own beds, and start getting their minds set on the tournament the next weekend.

We will leave from Kansas City, on July 13th and head to Fargo, North Dakota. We will then practice, and get our weight down, for weigh ins on Friday July 14th, and wrestle on the 15th and 16th. The plan is to begin the trip back after the finals are completed around 8pm via our charter bus.

This trip includes a gear package, everyone has to wear the gear for the state of Kansas, the trip, the training, and coaching. We will have several seasoned coaches, college coaches, and college wrestlers, helping your ladies out along the way as they work to become an All American or National Champion.

The state body subsidizes a lot of the cost, but there is some cost to this trip. It is $700, however if you compete in the Southern Plains Tournament on June 2,3, and 4th you can get it reduced $50, and another reduction if you are able to make it to an RTC practice around the state and you can reduce it by another $50, for a fully discounted $600. As we get commitments on this team, we will be taking deposits so that we can get all of the gear ordered.

I am the State Director for women, and will take the lead on this trip. So if you want to go, please reach out to me with any questions, or confirmations. This is a trip that will be memorable for the rest of their lives. My contact info is: ph: 913-669-4016 email: tkphippen@gmail.com.

All forms for Fargo and signatures will be done online this year. Please fill out the application at: https://forms.office.com/r/Bhde6t2aJz. This will help that we ensure you have a spot on the team. There are currently some bugs in the payment portal at https://www.usawmembership.com/usaw_events/2300234902?section=registration. Once these have been resolved, I will post updates on our facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/KSWomensWrestling/ and to the usawks forum for women at https://www.usawks.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=7&page=1 .

Even if someone has not auto qualified, it is highly likely we will be able to include you on the team, and you can fill out the forms.

If you have any questions, please reach out to me with any questions, or confirmations. This is a trip that will be memorable for the rest of their lives. My contact info is: ph: 913-669-4016 email: tkphippen@gmail.com.
