For those interested parties here are the seeds for the Newton tournament. I was not even there so don't complain about the unfairness of the seeds or how the coaches reached the decisions that they did. At some weights they seeded to 8 some to 6. I am giving the top 8 people so it is possible that someone I list as number 8 seed was really a draw in so bear with me. Remember don't shoot the messenger - but here is the message.

This looks like a great tourney with tough weights all the way through. Wish my team could be there.

Boy that tournament is close enough to make it worth the drive only a bit over an hour from Chapman...If I were to head south out of Abilene what would be the best route to get to the venue that the tournament is being held at?

hey aaron, from abilene just take 15 south all the way to newton, you take a right at 11th st i think, which is a stop light. its a good tourny if you have never been.

Knipp hasn't wrestled all year from the results I've looked at Prant. The last time I saw him wrestling was during a Greco/Freestyle tournament last spring down in Derby.

I think he is scared of the hamburger this year, but the real question is....who isn't? I've heard it is one scary "mofo" from everyone around Hat town. I bet he can't wait to see LancerM at state, if LancerM isn't scared of the hamburger as well....

Knipp was ineligable first semester due to grades. Wichita public school semester ends tomorrow. I do not know whether he will be eligible second semester or not (we should know next week)

This tourney is tougher than the State Tournament to win. Any wrestler who wins this tournament is probably a favorite to win his class at the State Tournament.

I have participated in it, and watched it for years. I have to say, it is very prestigous. Plus they have a great hospitality room for the coaches. (haha!)

Well, I'll help you out.
You can't root for Norton, because that is the hometown of Male Kann (a.k.a. "The Traitor"). And you can't root for Salina South, because that would mean you are cheering for oppression and totalitarianism.

The way I see it, you can root for either your neighbor The Hat or Clay Center. I have no problem with Clay Center.

But Manhattan's funnier. And we have a better T-Bell.

P.S. Male--is your sister going to be cheering at Newton? If so, I may have to skip volunteering for the Iowa caucuses to go hit on her.
P.P.S. That's right. I'm going to the caucuses.
P.P.P.S. I'm such a nerd.

Yeah, anytime when you have a taco bell that takes up part of a gas station, like ours, well that's not good.

Newton is always hard to predict, but i think manhappiness will win it.

Is it possible to have a man crush on an entire town?? If so, that was a perfect example of one.

Oh, Jhris. I don't think that was an example of a man crush on an entire town.

However, it is possible. Because it's totally 100% obvious that everyone has a superhuge man crush on Manhattan. Look at Bingham--his man crush was so huge that he moved here.

Jeeze, this whole mancrush thing is getting out of hand. It's like the Red Scare. I may have to go into hiding into my homemade bombshelter with my supply of canned goods and brand new buddy holly and the crickets record. That way nobody stamps "mancrush" on me and i don't get deported to Cuba.

does anybody know what time the finals will start??

I've never been to this tournament before, but I may have to go watch it Saturday. I'm assuming they award 6 places. Using the formula of 16 pts for 1st, 12 for 2nd, 9 for 3rd, 7 for 4th, 5 for 5th, & 3 for 6th, the top team scores based on place points only would be as follows if seeds hold true (we all know this won't happen, but yes I was bored tonight!!):

Manhattan 93
Bishop Carroll 91
Emporia 62
Clay Center 56
Norton 49
Salina South 46
Derby 45
Hutch 41
McPherson 39

This excludes all points for advancement, falls, etc leading up to the placing rounds so probably not worth the paper its written on. And I probably missed a few seeds along the way because its getting late. I'm not familiar with many 5 & 6A teams; but for 3A, it looked like Norton may be missing a few kids (or at least they had several I would have expected to see seeded in the top 8 but weren't -- Clay Madden among others).
